I am so glad we have Hollywood to tell us how to vote in November.
No, I am not being sarcastic here.
In a recent YouTube video, actress Olivia Wilde is urging everyone to get out their vote in November. She’s casting her vote for “reproductive rights,” which she believes is a “basic human right.”
The video is one of numerous videos posted on VoteYourFuture.Us website. It’s a way to encourage people to register to vote in this upcoming election and to join a conversation about what motivates you to vote and why.
“No matter the issue, the platform or the candidate you support- the most impactful way to shape the future of our country is to vote,” they urge. “We started this project to share what motivates us to get involved, now tell us what motivates you?”
The only problem is among the plethora of videos of Hollywood actors and actresses who are sharing their reasons for voting come November, not one shares my motivation.
Olivia Wilde’s video reminds me why this election is so very important. The pregnant actress who is about to share the gift of life is giving a nod toward one of the most pro-abortion candidates. (Can anyone see the hypocrisy?)
Abortion motivates Hillary Clinton. For years, she has stumped for Planned Parenthood; the largest provider of abortions in this country. She is committed to change pro-life laws and wants to repeal the Hyde Amendment and force taxpayers (yes, you and me) to fund the more than one million abortions that tragically happen each year. She even voted against the 2003 Partial Birth Abortion Act staking her position that life has no value in or outside the womb.
So when Olivia Wilde poses the question, “What do you care about?” I have to thank Hollywood, once again, for reminding me how important my vote is come November. They are encouraging the conversation on social media with the hashtag #VoteYourFuture. I don’t want more of the same pro-abortion support and rhetoric to permeate our government institutions. What motivates my future is the “unalienable Rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness endowed by the Creator”; including every life inside and outside of the womb. This is what motivates me.
Come November it really isn’t about my future. It’s about their future and the hope that we can live in a country that values the right of life for the unborn. Terminating a pregnancy through abortion (aka reproductive rights) is the complete antithesis of the basic human right-LIFE!
This is my conversation. It is rarely found in Hollywood but it’s what I care about and it motivates me to #VoteTheirFuture.
