When It Rains, It Pours!

Recently, Colorado has been hit with massive amounts of rain. The devastation to that state from flooding is overwhelming. The relentless rain has been unbelievable. The people in Colorado couldn’t believe that more rain was in the forecast upon what they already had to deal with.

Isn’t that what life can be like for us?

There are times when we think we can’t handle anything more on top of what we are already dealing with. Then once again it rains and there is one more life situation that we have to deal with. We might feel trapped and overcome by all the water that is rising around us.

How do we deal with more rain or pain in our forecast?

In an actual flood, a person is supposed to get to higher ground and “hold on for dear life”. Holding on with our own personal strength will help sustain us until help arrives. However, in our own personal life struggles that’s not the mode of help that will save us. As hard as it is, in our own time of feeling overtaken by the flood waters of suffering, we have to let go.

Letting go is giving God the lifeline to save us. It is the hardest thing to do. However, every time He catches us from the rising waters. The flood might still be there and the aftermath of devastation will linger but by letting go we let God change the forecast. There is no way “to hold on for dear life” on our own. That is not what faith is.

Faith is admitting we need help and we can’t hold on. Letting go and giving up our own personal rising water of turmoil to God is the only way to help sustain us in times of flooding and need.

Will we be saved and will the waters recede?

God’s word is true and at it says in Psalm 37:25 “…I have never seen the righteous forsaken…

Are the waters rising in your life? Don’t hold on. Let go!
